According to the testimony of some oldest worshippers, the chapel was already in function in 1936 or maybe even earlier. In 1947 it was named after Mary's name and since then paitron saint's day has been celebrated on 12 September. At that time in Kotlina used to live about 150 catholic families.

In 1977, when Đurica Fogaraši became a parish priest, there were 125 catholic families. At that time, there were Missions, too.

In late 1970s the bell-tower was reconstructed on the elevation above the chapel and the worn-out wooden structure was replaced by metal one which has been existing since then.

In 1983 the chapel was renovated. At the same time, the artificial cave made of stone with the statue of Our Lady of Lurd was made. The new altar and ambo were made in the chapel, too.

In 1987 the interior of the chapel, the ceiling and floor, were renewed. The number of worshippers dropped significantly to only 40 families and it became very difficult to maintain the chapel.

With God's help and whole-hearted efforts of the current parish priest as well as the contribution of the parishioners, it is planned to build a new church in Kotlina.
