The Serbian Orthodox Parish in Kneževi Vinogradi was first mentioned in 1742 when the priest Petar Parabak began to work there. A new church built at the same year was originally dedicated to Saint Archdeacon Stefan (Sv. Arhiđakon Stefan).
Representatives of the County of Baranja reported to the Hungarian Regency Council that they inspected the church in Herceg Suljoš (today Kneževi Vinogradi), measured it and examined the funds of the congregation for a new church.
The Religious Committee of the Hungarian Regency Council suggested to permit the construction of the new church of the same size as the old one using the solid building materials, but without decorations.
In 1769 the Empress Maria Theresa permitted the construction of the new church under the conditions suggested by the Hungarian Regency Council.
The new church devoted to the Holy Mother of God (Vavedenje Presvete Bogorodice) was built by solid building materials in 1775.
The church was built in the late Baroque style with the elements of Classicism as a single nave building with a semicircle apse and two-story belfry above the western portal. The iconostasis dates from the mid 18th century.
The data about parish priests who used to work in the parish goes back to 1860. According to the data from 1860 to 1911 there used to work the archpriest Radoslav Andrić. After his death in 1911 a monk Sergije Janković temporarily overtook the position. After a year, he was replaced by the archpriest Dušan Andrić who held the position untill he was retired in 1938. At the same year the priest Stevan Izbradić came to the parish and held the position untill 1955 when the priest Ljubomir Mecanović came and stayed in the parish untill 1982, when he was retired.
Since 1982 the priest Ljubomir Radić was in the parish untill 1998 when he went to the Šumadija eparchy.
