From the history of the Parish
The oldest church in Baranja is located in Kneževi Vinogradi. The foundation of the tower was laid by the Romans around 300. The current form the church got in the 19 century but even before that it was big because in 1576 there was held the significant historical synod and so-called Canons from Kneževi Vinogradi were accepted. Regulations according to the reformed believers had to live were written in the Canons.
The church was built in 1803 and reconstructed in 1839. It was declared a cultural heritage, but unfortunately, it is in poor condition nowadays. It is in course of reconstruction, but only the top of the tower was made.
The following ministers used to perform religious duties and ceremonies in Kneževi Vinogradi: Pál Szekér, László Vághó, Hugó Molnár, Péter Matkovics. Ferenc Faragó was the minister of the most tragical fate because at the end of World War II, he and other Hungarians were killed as martyrs as an act of revenge.
In 1817 there were 615 believers, in 1880 there were 891 believers, 543 in 1910, 332 in 1941, only 70 in 1989 and 85 people in 1999.
